Steps

  1. Deluxe Word Solver is a utility to help you as you solve Wordle games. Here is some example Wordle games: NY Times Wordle or wordlegame.org. For instructions on playing Wordle, consult this source: How to play Wordle
  2. Enter the "guess" into Wordle and let it score the guess. You may have one or more grey, yellow, and green letters highlighted provided by your Wordle game.
  3. then also enter the guess into Deluxe Word Solver
  4. Click the "Submit" button.
  5. See your word appear in all grey boxes. Color them identical to how Wordle scored them (grey, yellow and green) by following the on-screen instructions: "Touch color below then touch letter in guess:" You can think of it as getting colored ink on you fingertip and then touching the letter to color
  6. When you have the colors all set, then click on the button at the bottom, "Best Next Guess"
  7. See a screen (lion in background) with two columns. The "Best Next Guess" column lists the highest scored recommended next guess along with its score, sorted by score.
  8. Deluxe Word Solver has a comprehensive list of English words. The bold ones are considered more common. Depending on the Wordle game you are solving, some of the more obscure (non-bolded) words may be considered "not a word" so you may then want to try a bolded word. All the words on the "Best Next Guess" are words that comply with all the hints (color-coded) that have been provided by your Wordle game
  9. As game play progresses, If too many possible words remain (because words with common "green" characters) like (for example) bales, dales, fales, gales, hales, kales, males and pales, etc., then the clarifying words on the right can come in handy. These will eliminate up to 5 characters from your Wordle keyboard, and are valid English words. Sometimes you will get a yellow or green "hit" on a clarifying word that will speed up the number of guesses needed to solve the Wordle

Deluxe Word Solver launched and ready to accept the first Guess
'beach' has been entered and submitted
All letters were left grey -- Wordle said they weren't in their secret word-to-solve. Click on "Best Next Guess" and see there are 2366 possible words (words that contain neither 'b' nor 'e' nor 'a' nor 'c' nor 'h') and it also gives "Best Next Guess" words to type into your Wordle game as the second guess. 'louis' is the high-scored word with 5789 -- but might not be a valid word so other guesses are suggested. No doubt "toils" at score 5757 is more common. But "louis" is worth a try -- and was considered valid just now by a Wordle game being used to prepare this caption. Notice the "Best Clarifying Word" list on the right. All of these have five letters not previously used in any guess and could be used to knock down that "2366 possible words" really fast if used as a next guess.
In a new Wordle game -- our first Guess was "beach" again. This time, Wordle says the 'e' and 'a' are in their "secret word" but not in the right position
After selecting "Best Next Guess" we see there are 975 possible words, and the suggested best guess is scored at 995. We may choose to guess "laser" instead -- a common word (bolded) whose score is almost as high, at 989

General Information

  1. Deluxe Word Solver works with you to suggest great next guesses!
  2. Deluxe Word Solver uses advanced algorithms to suggest Wordle guesses that correctly make use of all feedback from previous guesses. You have full control over which guess is chosen next. All information from previous scored guesses are used. Highest scored guesses (meaning guesses that will best narrow-down future possible words) are showed (left side). Best clarifying words (right side) quickly rule out (or find) the right answer when too many similar words are still possible on the left side.
